Norwegian percussion trio Pinquins and the hyper productive experimental rock group MoE, teams up for this very special release on ConradSound. With a mixture of contemporary music, noise, cabaret, spoken words, pop and rock, the album challenges both themselves and the listeners. An album that should be listened horizontal, like reading a novel. The atmospheres and the stories being told are fragmented and constant changing, which underlines the main characters delirium.

Its time to go back to your cd player and enter the unfashionable Cd and sit down and experience the journey.

The album is inspired by the book “Frihetens øyeblikk” (English: “Moment of freedom) by the legendary Norwegian novelist, dramatist, essayist, and poet Jens Bjørneboe.”Frihetens øyeblikk” is the first book in his trilogy “Bestialitetens Historie” (English: The History of Bestiality”). The trilogy traces “bestiality’s history”—that is, they recount instances of violence on the part of the state against the powerless and the cruel and creative punishment.

Bjørneboes work was driven by a sense of outrage towards the misuse of power in the world, and he was a harsh and eloquent critic of Norwegian society and Western civilization with a constant agitation against the authorities.

The music follows the main character’s delirium and his macabre humor through an oblique look at the bestiality of humanity, drawing inspiration from contemporary music, rock, noise, rap and collage. MoE and Pinquins have made a piece of music nearly impossible to classify, which can be experienced as upsetting, gloomy and shocking. But also totally ignored, just like any headline in todays news.

The album is much more than the traditional collaboration between two different groups. The music stands out with it’s own character and pushes the musicians and the two groups into new territories.

MoE and Pinquins show strength and abilities far outside what’s expected within their respective genres. Whether or not you have knowledge to the Norwegian language, the music and the performances will give you a sense of understanding of the story being told.
