Nakama Records’ fifth release features violin duo Jinchūriki consisting of young Norwegian wonder boys Håkon Aase and Adrian Løseth Waade. The duo has seemingly emerged out of nowhere, but their existence seems as natural as night turning into day. The album is entitled «Kyūbi» (both band name and title is derived from the popular anime Naruto) and is a free exploration of sound within the boundaries of their instruments and their own musicality. The album is comprised of 20 small pieces ranging in expression from reductionist and sparse textures, to filmscore-like tonal landscapes with clear dramatic outlines. Their contribution to the label is a treasure box full of surprises.
Artist bio
Håkon Aase is a Norwegian jazz violinist and improviser known for his expressive and inventive playing within Norway’s vibrant contemporary jazz scene. Emerging as one of the notable younger talents, he has performed and recorded with leading figures and ensembles, including trumpeter Mathias Eick’s group and the band Time Is A Blind Guide, contributing to releases on the prestigious ECM label and touring internationally. Aase’s work blends elements of jazz improvisation with influences from folk and other genres, making him a versatile and compelling voice on the violin.
Adrian Løseth Waade is a Norwegian violinist and composer active across a wide range of musical styles, from jazz and free improvisation to structured ensemble contexts.
