Truck Rurâl is a duo consisting of Håvard Skaset and Ståle Liavik Solberg.
An improvising duo of two musicians coming from seemingly very different backgrounds in Norways deep experimental forrest.
Truck Rurâl focuses on the acoustic and simple elements of the guitar and percussion. Intimate, impulsive and idiomatic are some key words. Skaset tweaks and twists the open tunings of the guitar and mix it with elements from blues, folk and jazz. Solbergs characteristic percussion is both accompanying and challenging the naive guitar sounds.
Solberg and Skaset have known each other for decades, but it wasn’t until their paths crossed at a local barn party in the village of Tangen, the idea arrived to start a folk duo. And naturally the album is recorded in the stable at the same farm by no other than the owner of the farm, Roger Berntzen.
Both Solberg and Skaset has a long history in improvised and experimental music. Solberg with collaborations with John Butcher, Pat Thomas and Phil Minton, on the other hand Skaset has been hyper-active with the experimental rock band MoE and collaborations with Japanese improvisers like PainJerk, Keiji Haino, Ikuro Takahashi and such.
In Truck Rurâl they found their own path, mixing various genres of folk and improvised music. Going back to the roots and the core of the instruments. Pure, acoustic simplicity. Simply pure acoustic.
