This is the first ever MoE recording, live in concert. Not only their first live recording, it’s also their first recording from their own production facility and venue in Norway.

For close to twenty years MoE have been a highly active band on the experimental scene in Europe. Releasing composed rock music, noise albums, improvised jazz influenced albums and collaborations with almost all corners of the experimental scene.

They have toured extensively with their own music, created new collaborations, composed and scored for theatre. Their activity is documented on more than twenty releases, and MoE has long since proven their massive effort in the experimental field.

Their effort for the music community now goes even deeper. With building Børsen Kulturhus, a massive production facility for music and sound art outside Oslo. They no longer only record and release their music independently, they also invite musicians and artist to their home to dive into music research and exploration. The space is called Børsen Kulturhus, and is not only a production space with 3 studios, library, artist residency, workshop, it’s also the home of Guro S. Moe and Håvard Skaset aka MoE.

Here they invited Signe Emmeluth and long time collaborator and friend, Ikuro Takahashi to create spontaneous music for the local people. This CD is the very first live-product from Børsen Kulturhus.

The Danish born Signe Emmeluth has become THE saxophonist in Scandinavia right now, especially with her own band; Emmeluths Amoeba.

Her tone is strong and present, and she steers clear from the free jazz cliches, and manages to blend in with this trios rockish sound.

The meeting at Børsen Kulturhus was a part of the first MoE and Takahashi EU tour. Earlier they have only met in Sapporo, Japan. Several meetings that already manifested in two in albums with saxophonists such as Mette Rasmussen and Martin Escalante. With this album, they now soon are ready to work on a trio album.

Guro Moe is widely known for her powerful electric bass playing in MoE, however this is the first MoE-album where Guro plays double bass only! As many may know, Guro is not only a contrabass player, but one of the reasons to create Børsen Kulturhus was her infamous octobass. An almost 4 meter tall gigantic bass, that many now have heard her play together with Japanese legend Keiji Haino and their recent duo release.

By now you might have understood the massive capabilities of MoE. A band that is not only a band, but a Norwegian institution in itself. With this album MoE starts to navigate further into the unknown musical territories. With the facilities they now have built singlehandedly, they are ready to go deeper into the material than ever.
