“Ganso Verde” is the debut album by the trio Goose Green. The album title refers to the Spanish name for Goose Green, one of the main islands of the Falkland Islands and the site of one of the largest land battles during the Falklands War in 1982 between the United Kingdom and Argentina. The war, which stemmed from a territorial conflict, casts a dark historical echo into our own time and its present conflicts in which fundamental democratic processes are once again being pushed aside.
The music on Ganso Verde is created in the moment and revolves around the individual and collective choices the trio makes. What does it mean to resist? Can a collection of individual voices become an expression of resistance, interaction, and/or democracy? With a desire to create something original and personal that contributes to musical diversity, Goose Green embarks on the democratic challenge of spontaneous interplay. Together the trio explores their areas of interest: asymmetric repetition, microtonality, and "skewed" grooves developed through years of playing together both at home and abroad.
Artist bio
Petersen, Hegge, and Holm distinguish themselves with a rare combination of instrumental precision, sonic curiosity, flexibility, and pure stubbornness. With backgrounds in jazz, free improvisation, contemporary music, and composition, they freely borrow from their own histories and reassemble them in their very own unique way.
